3. Encouragement for Pastors Who Feel Worn Down

Brother, if you are reading this and feeling the weight of the ministry pressing hard against your shoulders, take heart. The work of the ministry is a "good work," but it is also an exhausting one. Between the hospital visits, the sermon preparation, and the quiet burdens you carry for your flock, it is easy to feel as though your "oil" is running low.

You Are Not a Machine Even Elijah, after his great victory on Mount Carmel, found himself discouraged and exhausted under a juniper tree. The Lord did not rebuke him for his tiredness; He fed him and gave him rest. Remember that your faithfulness is not measured by the size of the crowd, but by your obedience to the One who called you.

Staying the Course

  • Look to the Chief Shepherd: When the "under-shepherd" is tired, he must lean on the One who never slumbers.

  • Focus on the Few: Sometimes we get discouraged looking at who isn't there. Look at the few who are growing, and find joy in their progress.

  • Remember Your Calling: Go back to that moment when God first put the fire in your bones. That call hasn't changed, even if the season has.

You don't have to carry the load alone. The Lord is faithful, and there are fellow laborers who stand with you in the gap.

Refined By Grace Ministries exists to encourage pastors just like you. Whether you need a listening ear or a hand to help steady the ark, we are here to serve. Visit rbgm316.org to connect with us.
