The Pastor’s Manual: 5 Scriptural Steps to a Spirit-Filled Revival
Presented by Refined By Grace Ministries
Hosting a revival is more than scheduling dates on a calendar; it is a spiritual undertaking that requires strategic preparation and biblical fidelity. This guide, curated by Evangelist Steve Livingston and the Refined By Grace team, provides a KJV-based roadmap for the local church shepherd.
1. The Shepherd’s Sanctification
Revival begins in the pulpit. The spiritual climate of the meeting is often determined by the Pastor’s own heart-cry for a move of God.
The Scripture: "Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord." (Joel 1:14)
The Action: Leading up to the event, host "Altar Hours" where the doors are open specifically for the leadership to pray.
RBGM Partner Note: Evangelist Steve Livingston begins praying for your congregation and your specific vision weeks before he ever steps behind your pulpit.
2. Compelling the Community
A revival is a rescue mission. To see the "highways and hedges" reached, the church must have a visible, professional, and clear invitation.
The Scripture: "And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." (Luke 14:23)
The Action: Don't rely on word-of-mouth alone. Utilize high-impact digital and print media to "compel" your city.
Marketing Support: If you need professional banners, social media graphics, or print flyers, Michelle Livingston handles this through MinistryX. You can access these services directly via rbgm316.org.
3. Cultivating "One Accord" Unity
The Holy Spirit honors unity. A church in discord is a church that quenches the Spirit before the invitation is even given.
The Scripture: "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place." (Acts 2:1)
The Action: Clear any "bottlenecks" of offense among your staff or deacons. A unified leadership team creates a safe atmosphere for the lost to find Christ.
4. The Altar: The Valley of Decision
The sermon is the seed, but the altar call is the harvest. Pastors must prepare their workers to handle the "net" when it is cast.
The Scripture: "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision." (Joel 3:14)
The Action: Assign "Altar Workers" who are seasoned in the King James Bible to pray with those who come forward.

5. Stewarding the Harvest (The Follow-Up)
The revival doesn't end when the Evangelist leaves. The goal is "fruit that remains."
The Scripture: "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." (Acts 2:42)
The Action: Have a 7-day follow-up plan. Every "Connect Card" filled out during the revival should result in a personal visit or phone call within 48 hours.
